Leaf Peeping in Maine

All Leaves, All the Time

Leaf Peeping in Maine

Jennifer and I just got back from a fun trip to New Hampshire and Maine with our friends Paul and Allison. The trip followed in the footsteps of many New Englanders who go Leaf Peeping each Autumn to take in what is probably the only weather related reason to live in the Northeast.

Leaf Peeping is when you drive out into the country and look at the different color leaves on the trees. Somehow the three or four weeks of yellow, orange, and red leaves in Fall is enough to endure the three or four month long white blanket of Winter.

Never Let a Full Stomach Get in the Way of a Good Meal

Finally, out of New Hampshire, Billy’s Chowder House in Wells, ME was our first stop to satisfy Paul’s craving for New England Clam Chowder. We also managed to take care two bowls of chowder, some fries, and a few lobster rolls despite not really being all that hungry when we got there.

Enough With the Small Towns, Next Stop Portland

The Last Four Lobsters

Stopping downtown on the harbor to check out the town, we walked up and down Commercial St. eagerly eying the local fare offered up at each restaurant we passed to see where we would force our next meal into our already full stomachs. We ended up at Gilbert’s Chowder House; a small shack of a place that sat precariously on the edge of the harbor looking as if it would fall in at any moment.

Be sure to check out pictures from our trip.

Stay tuned for additional weather related stories as winter approaches. It’s already cold and it’s only getting colder.
